You’ve been at Chaucer Foods for 20 years, congratulations! What does this anniversary mean to you?
Over the past two decades, what has been your favorite memory of Chaucer?
How can you ask me to narrow it down that much?!? I have a long list of memories and stories of my time here at Chaucer, but some of the best memories are with our global sales teams at trade shows. It’s difficult to nail down to a specific time, but I love looking back at the chance to collaborate with so many amazing people. At these shows, our teams come together and bounce ideas off of one another and it creates an experience that I’m quite fond of. Plus, we have had some great laughs at the shows, too.
What project are you most proud of, and why?
If you could share some advice with someone starting their first day at Chaucer, what would it be and why?
For young people joining Chaucer, I would say to them that you are in a great spot. Here, you are able to take opportunities and run with it to build up your experience. Chaucer trusts us to follow our instincts, so trust yourself and proceed with the ideas you believe will be successful. The more you provide ideas, the better you are able to bring value and grow within your career.
What, or who, has made the strongest impact on your professional development at Chaucer?
Is there a limit on how many names I can list? There are so many people who were helpful to my growth here. I learned so much from so many people, but to shoutout one specific person, Eric Quirin, EMEA Sales Director, has been an incredible supporter of my career. Over the past 7 or 8 years, he has been by my side, rooting for and encouraging me to keep building upon my expertise.
When you think of Chaucer Foods, what comes to mind and why?
The word that comes to mind is fulfilled. It’s in my nature to be a challenger, and here we have autonomy over a project to challenge ourselves and come up with a solution. Chaucer opens the door for me, gives me the opportunity to share my opinions, and entrusts my vision. My colleagues know they can come to me for my input on projects, just as much as I enjoy going to them to learn more about the projects they are working on – and that’s rare that a work culture encourages the level of collaboration that Chaucer has.
Everyone here is encouraging, all seeking a way to help their customers find solutions. We all respect one another’s culture and preferences, finding paths to remain as creative as possible, while still working with everyone. I am always happy to provide my insight and I try my best to be a supporter of others. That is what gives me that sense of fulfillment. I want to make life easier for my customers and colleagues, providing solutions, partnership, and helping them accomplish their goals.
When it comes to the future of you and Chaucer, what are you most excited about?
I’m excited to continue the amazing human connections and experiences I have developed over the last 20 years. I have some amazing customers that I’ve known for a long time and look forward to continuing our relationship. And there are new customers who I am excited to begin working with and learning about. As the years go on, I value the people. Getting to know them; that’s what makes me want to keep doing this.
I’m so appreciative of those I’ve worked with along the way. And, personally, I am also looking forward to expanding my creativity, meeting new people, building our team culture, and continuing to see the incredible things we can do at Chaucer.
